Description

The Shop Mechanic performs diagnosis, maintenance, repairs, and inspections on the organizations’ tractor trailers, units, and equipment; utilizes and interprets wiring diagrams to diagnose and repair all electrical equipment; and keeps detailed records of all maintenance activities.

  • Perform diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs on the organizations tractor trailers, units, and equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair tractor trailer engines, aftertreatment systems, fuel systems, HVAC, brakes, lights, 12V systems, airbrake systems

  • Perform after-repair inspections on equipment

  • Perform valve lash and engine brake adjustments

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to test engine performance and fuel systems

  • Follow manufacturer’s torque sequence to remove and replace fluid end packing, valves, seats, and stay rods

  • Remove and replace packing sleeves on Kerr fluid ends

  • Diagnose power end issues and failures

  • Remove and replace pinion seal, rotary seal, pony rod seals, pony rods, power end cross heads

  • Remove and replace injectors and injection sleeves

  • Install inspection covers with new gaskets

  • Drill out all broken bolts on power end frame, re-tap if necessary

  • Program Common Powertrain Controller (CPC), Motor Control Module (MCM), and Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM)

  • Troubleshoot derates and fault codes associated with the aftertreatment or one box system

  • Remove and replace aftertreatment systems (i.e., one box system, DPF filters, etc.)

  • Utilize and interpret wiring diagrams to diagnose and repair all electrical systems

  • Perform basic wear and tear checks on equipment

  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and lubricated

  • Safely operate forklift and overhead hoist

  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a hazard free work environment

  • Accurately document and keep records of all maintenance activities

  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties as needed

  • Safely drive a company vehicle day or night, on various road types, and in all weather conditions

  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Experience performing maintenance on tractor trailers, electrical systems, commercial vehicles, power ends and fluid ends
  • Maintaining a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, required
  • Must be forklift operator certified or willing to attend and pass organization approved forklift operator training, required
  • High school education or equivalent, required; technical or Associates degree, preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic fracturing equipment
  • Must be able to properly install power end oil lube pressure pump and regulator
  • Must be able to read and follow diagrams, manufacturer specifications, blueprints, and instructions written in English
  • Must have proficient knowledge of system diagnostic tools and software (i.e., DETROIT DDDL, Cat ET, and Cummins InSite)
  • Must be air brake certified
  • Must be physically able to safely perform a power end swing on a hydraulic fracturing pump using an overhead hoist
  • Basic computer skills and able to quickly learn work related software (i.e., Microsoft Office 365 applications, Power Bi, etc.)
  • Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Personable, reliable, with a good attitude and strong work ethic
  • Must have knowledge of and practice safe hand tool use
  • Must be physically able to safely drive a company vehicle day or night, on various road types, and in all weather conditions
  • Available to work a 14/7 shift, can safely perform required duties during a 12+ hour workday that will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be physically able safely to lift 50 lbs. and 25 lbs. above head without assistance
  • Must be physically able to stand or sit for extended periods, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment ladders or stairs throughout work shift.
