As a Lead Materials Scientist, you will support proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. 

As a Lead Materials Scientist you will:

  • Work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary NPI team.
  • Develop, set-up and conduct experiments/tests on prototype systems.
  • Document work products in written form, e.g. technical notes, design specifications, journal publications
  • Present work achievements to the team, and when appropriate to the scientific community at technical conferences
  • Provide engineering/physics support for all existing Reuter-Stokes’ product lines

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor's in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field
  • Have 5 to 10 years of technical work experience or a combination of Masters' degree and work experience
  • Have technical experience in several of the following areas: ceramics, metallography, joining dissimilar materials (e.g. metal/ceramic or glass to metal), crystal growth, scintillation crystals, vapor deposition
  • Have experience with materials for high-temperature applications (> 500C)
  • Be able to work independently
  • Have effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Have excellent judgment and decision-making ability
  • Be able to analyze and resolve problems

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience and success with basic and applied research to support new product development
  • Understanding and experience with tools such as Ansys Granta and CrystalMaker
  • History of technical contributions to one or more of the following fields: Nuclear physics, Solid state physics, Optics
