The Supplier Quality Engineer’s role is to drive quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation; select suppliers through qualification processes; drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards; own supplier audits, ensure compliance, and drive improvement plans where needed.

This position requires a thorough understanding and application of approaches, theories, methodologies, and application in a concrete organizational context. The SQEs also have various levels of differentiation which are related to the level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to manage vendors.

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Including both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development. This includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
  • Advising Functional managers regarding projects, processes, and procedures in their own field.
  • Handling communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered.
  • Contributing to project as a team member or leading small projects.
  • Working goals typically take 3-6 months to complete and the time horizon for results/impact is typically 2-12 months after the event

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Sourcing)
  • Have a minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Be able to influence others and lead small teams
  • Be able to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
  • Be able to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Have effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Have proven analytical and organizational ability
